Aton: Rosneft wants access to Sila Sibiri to sell gas to China
MOSCOW, Jun 24 (PRIME) -- Russian oil major Rosneft is considering getting access to Gazprom’s Sila Sibiri pipeline to sell gas from the Verkhnechonskoye deposit and the Taas-Yuryakh Neftegazdobycha project, Aton said in a report on Monday after a meeting with executives of the company.
“Rosneft announced its strategy for the Verkhnechonskoye deposit and Taas-Yuryakh in detail at the analyst day.” Aton said.
“One of the gas monetization options is access to Sila Sibiri of Gazprom. Rosneft could use the closeness of Verkhnechonskoye to the Chayanda and Kovykta fields of Gazprom (100–200 kilometers) and does not think that this will lead to competition with Gazprom in exports, taking into account the huge potential of the Chinese gas market.”
The contract between Rosneft and China’s Beijing Gas, which owns 20% in Verkhnechonskoye, envisages the sale of 7 billion cubic meters (bcm) of gas per year, 3 bcm from Verkhnechonskoye and 4 bcm from Taas-Yuryakh.
